The Westview Jr. High boys track team won seven relay races and three individual events to breeze to the team championship in its own invitational meet last Friday night in Emma.
The Warriors piled up 152 points, 31.5 more than runner-up West Noble (121.5). Wawasee (78) was a distant third.
Westview relay units grabbed top honors in the 800-meter (1:46.60), 1600-meter mixed (4:15.80), 3200-meter (9:15.00), 800 sprint medley (1:56.50), 6th/7th grade medley (1:56.60), 1600-meter sprint medley (4:11.60) and 440-meter shuttle (1:12.50) competitions. The Warriors took second in the 400-meter relay (51.40).
Winning individual blue ribbons for Westview were Daniel Yoder in the 2400 meters (7:49.80), Austin Schlabach in the high jump (5-6) and Isaac Drake in the discus (118-6.5). Producing second-place results were Jacob McCoy in both the 100 meters (12.17) and long jump (16-10), and Micah Wingard in the high jump (5-4).
Lakeland wound up with 42 points. Qwanell Gabriel’s third-place effort in the high jump (5-0) led the Lakers.
