The 2025 Quilt Gardens will bloom in Amish Country, adding to the vibrant tapestry and history of fabric and barn quilts decorating the region. The one-of-a-kind attraction will see two new Quilt Gardens for residents and visitors to enjoy. The Quilt Gardens showcase a unique tapestry of quilting, gardening, and the cultural heritage of Amish traditions and community pride. The Quilt Gardens will open to the public on May 30, 2025. The locations for the 2025 Quilt Gardens will be:
• Farmstead Inn & Conference Center, 370 S. Van Buren St., Shipshewana
• Weaver Furniture Sales, 7870 W. 075 N., Shipshewana
The Shipshewana/LaGrange CVB is partnering with the Shipshewana Garden
Club, led by Levi King, to plant and tend to the flowers. The Quilt Gardens will feature a variety of flowers including red wave petunias, eureka white begonias, eureka bronze leaf red begonias, and aloha blue ageratums.
“Shipshewana welcomes thousands of quilters and gardeners annually to the heart of Amish Country each year. We’re looking forward to inviting and welcoming even more by participating in the Quilt Gardens along the Heritage Trail project,” said Sonya Nash, executive director of the Shipshewana/LaGrange County CVB. “The newly formed Shipshewana Garden Club is filled with enthusiasm for adding to the beauty of this charming place.”
The Quilt Gardens make their return to Shipshewana after an 11-year absence and will be found in the same locations as previous years, including by the Be the “I” In Shipshe sculpture outside The Farmstead Inn & Conference Center.
“We are honored to be part of the Quilt Gardens Tour once again, celebrating the rich culture and artistry that make Shipshewana truly special,” said Lore Gates, director of marketing & customer experience at the Shipshewana Auction & Flea Market. “The vibrant quilt patterns not only bring beauty to our Farmstead Inn & Conference Center but also offer visitors a deeper connection to the heritage and craftsmanship of the region, creating a one-of-a-kind experience.”
The Quilt Gardens can be found along the Heritage Trail, named one of LIFE magazine’s most scenic drives. The Heritage Trail is a 90-mile guided audio tour that connects Shipshewana, Elkhart, Bristol, Middlebury, Goshen, Nappanee, and Wakarusa in an engaging experience packed with quirky stories, historical figures, and cultural heritage.
“We’re excited to welcome all of the new Quilt Gardens and the dedicated volunteers who will be caring for them. The Quilt Gardens draws tens of thousands of visitors every year to the Elkhart County area, creating memories with their friends and families and spending money at our local businesses,” said Jon Hunsberger, executive director of the Elkhart County CVB.
