Tim Wilson will be the principal at Westview Junior Senior High School when school starts again this fall.

Wilson was hired by the school board at its May meeting to replace Rich Cory.

For the past 13 years, he has been principal at Norwell Middle School in Ossian. For a year prior to becoming principal, he was assistant principal and athletic director at Norwell Middle School.

Wilson extolled Westview’s high academic achievement, athletics and music program. He said he didn’t plan to make a lot of changes to a well-working high school program.

“They already do some amazing things at a high, high level,” he said.

Wilson said he has worked closely with Cory to create a seamless transition.

“He’s been wonderful,” said Wilson.

He said it is hard to leave Norwell Middle School, where he has made many great friends. However, he is eager to get to know the people in the Westview community.

“I’m a people person,” Wilson said. “I’m so looking forward to forging great relationships.”

He is eager to meet the junior senior high school teachers and start working as a team.

“Tim’s energy and positive character will be an asset to build a staff and student culture where high expectations and dignity can co-exist,” said a news release from Westview. “Tim was interviewed by a large group of teachers, administrators and parents. Tim’s personality was reflected in the interview committee’s unanimous selection.”

A graduate of New Haven High School, Wilson worked in a print shop before attending Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne and eventually getting into the field of education.

He and his wife Allena are in the process of finding a home in LaGrange County. They have four children; their youngest daughter, Hannah, will be a junior at Westview. He has three sons, one studying jazz at Bulter University, another in the Army National Guard in Indianapolis and the third working in manufacturing in Ossian.
