The parks department’s signature event is made possible by volunteers and grants, which this year included $1,500 from the LaGrange County Convention and Visitors Bureau, $2,000 from the LaGrange County Community Foundation’s LIFE Grant program and an $1,800 REMC Round Up Grant to provide free wagon rides and puppet shows. The parks department made 100 gallons of syrup this year, which is sold to help support park programs. Around 1,200 area students participated in field trips through the sugar bush and sugar shack.
