Lady Warrior rally thwarted


Despite missing six of their nine free throws in the fourth quarter, Angola was able to hold off Westview by a count of 45-42 in NECC girls basketball action Tuesday night in Emma.

The visiting Lady Hornets took a 33-28 lead into the final eight minutes. A couple of three-pointers by Hope Bortner and four markers from Sara Lapp brought the hosts to within three, but they could get no closer.

Bailey Holman tallied 13 points and Tyrah Stillman sank 11 to pace Angola.

Lapp finished with 18 markers to lead the Lady Warriors, who dipped to 4-4 in the NECC and to 7-12 overall with the setback. Bortner wound up with 11 points.
